Ken King

Ken King is a mostly retired part-time Chief Financial Officer for several San Diego high-tech companies. He started this consulting practice in 1988 after working for a large multi-industry company for twenty years. Cycling is his passion, but he also spends time as a docent at Torrey Pines State Reserve, and in local politics promoting any kind of transportation except cars.

Fifteen years ago, the founder of the Knickerbikers of San Diego turned the reins over to Ken. This 33-year-old club was founded “to provide bicycle touring experiences without institutional encumbrances,” and the club holds true to that goal. In a typical year the club has 5 or 6 tours ranging from one night to 14 nights.

Ken has taken the Effective Cycling course many years ago, and rides about three times a week. His proudest accomplishment is the trip he made from Tijuana to Bar Harbor in 2005. This 3,800 odyssey climbed Vail and Loveland passes, taking the six companions on a true journey to satisfy the need to “go look for America.”
